Did you know...
Molière, born Jean-Baptiste Poquelin in 1622, is often hailed as the father of French comedy.
His most famous play, Le Misanthrope, combines sharp wit with profound social commentary.
Molière had a flair for the dramatic; he often performed in elaborate costumes that showcased the joie de vivre of French theatricality.
He founded the Illustre Théâtre, which helped popularize the genre of comedy in France during the 17th century.
Sadly, Molière died on stage in 1673 while performing in his play Le Malade imaginaire, a fitting end for such a vibrant artist!
